'It's like they never miss a pass': Swansea's Ethan Galbraith renews clash with City.

Ethan Galbraith breaks into a smile as he reminisces about the nail-biting final moments of his team's stunning fightback victory against Nottingham Forest in the EFL Cup. That match ended with Galbraith temporarily wearing a supporter's spectacles following the post-goal scrum.

With the clock ticking into the 97th minute, Galbraith rattled the woodwork with a long-range shot from outside the box, and Cameron Burgess promptly converted the rebound before racing off toward the home end to mark the goal, with supporters swarming the players.

Stunning Reversal

This sealed an unbelievable turnaround given the team had been behind 2-0 during the second half. During the euphoria, there was some minor mishaps. The midfielder recalled, "There was a supporter trying to get our attention and myself and Keysy [Josh Key] were thinking: 'What's he on about here?' Then we noticed the glasses. It was a light-hearted moment putting them on. We are on the pitch as athletes but we're people, too, so to have a bit of craic with the fans is always good."

Premier League Giants

That win booked a next round match at home against Manchester City on Wednesday, a team Galbraith came close against at the same stage of the FA Cup with his former club in February. He had an excellent perspective when the underdogs took the lead in spectacular fashion, with Jamie Donley's volley from about long distance going in via the crossbar and the Stefan Ortega. It seems unfair that it was credited as an own goal.

"You would have expected they would've awarded it to him for having a go from that range," commented Galbraith, who began the game centrally before switching to right flank after Orient changed tactics. That meant competing with the England international, with whom he traded tops, and the winger was among the opposition who complimented the way Orient approached the match.

City's Quality

"Fitness-wise they are outstanding but even the simple things and routine actions, they can just perform consistently," Galbraith says. "It seems as if they complete every delivery and they understand how to manage and slow down a game. You can think you're doing well and then without warning they will just thread a ball past your midfield without you even noticing. You have to be focused every second of the game. It demands a resilient mindset and focus just to keep pace."

Welsh Transition

The club sought to acquire Galbraith in January and beat off competition to sign him in the summer in a significant move. He established himself as a popular figure across two seasons at his former club and has rapidly replicated that in south Wales. At his previous team he reunited with the coach, who earlier gave Galbraith his initial sustained opportunity in first-team action on loan at a League One side from Manchester United. Then came a spell at League Two the Manchester club, before he departed Manchester United.

Learning Curve

"I was probably a bit naive going into senior level. I think a lot of players would say development squad matches is entirely separate. Sometimes it feels like possession is exchanged without serious challenge. There's not many hard challenges. Once you start playing men's games you have to learn quickly."

National Team Success

He has shown that development for both domestically and internationally, shining for Northern Ireland, who remain in contention for the World Cup next summer via the knockout phase and for whom he has been selected in the recent fixtures, including two matches encounters against Germany. Ian Baraclough, Galbraith's ex- international manager, gave him the highest praise, saying he was Northern Ireland's "midfield general" given how he handles the football and his eye for a game-changing assist.

Starting Out

This marks a remarkable path for the youngster from the Queens Park estate in Glengormley, just outside Belfast, who used to see his dad, his father, also a engine room operator, play for his father's team.

Manchester United Experience

The player's only game for Manchester United came in Central Asia in 2019, a Europa League trip to Astana, where they played on an synthetic surface and the arena covering was sealed owing to conditions of freezing cold. "That proved to be a extended travel and it was cold out there," he comments, grinning. "The days leading up, several youth players and I worked out jointly, so that aided our adjustment. Just to accompany the senior squad and make an appearance at the end was unbelievable."

Moving On

How hard was it to depart Manchester United, the club he transferred from aged a teenager? "The decision proved relatively straightforward, because I reached the point where I knew I couldn't establish myself at the senior squad. I'm hugely grateful for the time I spent there but it got to the point where I thought I had to take a different path, drop down the leagues and play men's football. Now I'm steadily climbing the ladder."

Welsh Adaptation

This occurs during the middle of the day at Swansea's Fairwood training base but Galbraith has somewhere to be at late afternoon: a learner's exam, another progress toward getting on the road. Prior to relocating to his new neighborhood, the 24-year-old was a frequent passenger in Swansea's nicknamed fun bus, a small coach driven by club employees, Pete and Howard, which transports players to and from practice and games.

"It's myself the Portuguese player, another squad member, an Ivorian player – Melker Widell used to be in it but has started driving. It's pleasant to socialize with the lads but I'm aiming to be the next one to stop using the bus and on the road. The Portuguese player enjoys practical jokes; he's constantly causing mischief."

Fan Interactions

During his time at Leyton Orient, Galbraith would mix with fans on the Tube after commuting at the area he lived in. "I tried|I attempted|My aim
